In 1956, Chris and Jeannet Stavros traveled to San Francisco.

They visited their first delicatessen shop on Columbus Street, and enjoyed a fantastic pastrami sandwich. As they savored the hot subs and cold beers, they knew San Diego needed something like it.

Their fateful trip inspired the creation of Chris’s Liquor & Deli. Mr Stavros started out offering delicious sandwiches and homemade side dishes along with beer, wine and liquor.

Over the past 62 years, Chris’s Liquor & Deli is still owned and operated. it has become a true landmark in Ocean Beach. We have grown to offer an extensive selection of craft beers and specialty spirits. All of our sides are still made from scratch daily, and we serve premium ‘Boars Head’ meats and cheeses.
